Farming With a Mission

Farming with a Mission is a three week hands-on course where we will study various topics both in class and in the garden. Our goal is to equip missionaries with ways to improve agriculture practices, as well as health and nutrition. Students will learn to apply what they learn in practical ways. We will especially focus on missional application in underdeveloped nations. They will gain skills they need to understand how to farm organically and how to integrate aquaponics in their agricultural tool belt.

The most impoverished places in the world are made up of subsistence famers. Therefore, We use open discussion to lead students to reflect on what they are learning, and to consider long-term solutions for those who are poor and destitute around the world.

Live & Learn

We will live together as a community during the seminar and will put into practice what we learn. We hope our time together will change the way we see the world as we learn new ways to provide for all our bodies’ needs to be healthy as God, our Creator, intended.

In the U.S., LeRoy Gustafson owned and operated a family-run greenhouse and nursery and started a landscape business. He was a grower and greenhouse manager for a garden center and worked for a botanical garden. Overseas, LeRoy and his wife Lisa, started an agri-business at a pastor’s training center in Uganda. He managed the farm and established local markets there, as well as in Jinja and, more recently, Rwanda. They are currently working to establish ongoing farms and educational training projects in Rwanda, Eastern Africa.

Why Farming With a Mission?

God designed His creation to be sustainable, but also abundant no matter where we are on the planet. Because it is not, we have designed Farming With A Mission to train people to use organic agriculture and wise nutritional planning to change lives, communities and nations by providing the health that God intended for and from His creation. Furthermore, our goal is that they would go on to equip others to do the same.

Our speakers and trainers will impart a wealth of knowledge gained over years of experience. However, it is not about the theory that is learned, but the understanding and wisdom to put it into practice. This way, it can bring transformative change in individuals and communities, and eventually begin changing nations. Costs:

Registration Fees : $50 single $80 per couple (The registration fee must be sent in with the application)

Lecture Fees: $650 (includes all meals and housing, field trips and materials).

 

Because it takes time to process applications, we ask that you apply as early as possible – particularly if you are a foreign student needing to apply for a visa as this can take several months.
